Global Gift Card E-Commerce Application

NetLink Resource Group was initially approached by Marriott International to fully re-design its gift card site for the U.S. market, to improve on the original site’s lackluster functionality and, most importantly, increase revenue.  NetLink provided a completely re-built, custom architecture, creating a dynamic, fully e-commerce-enabled site that offers the ability to purchase multiple cards sent to multiple addresses, as well as is integrated into the client’s credit card system, its card fulfillment operations, and its third party gift card providers.

Since the initial deployment of the U.S. gift card site, NetLink has created a site for the U.K. retail market, a comprehensive online wedding registry destination, a site for promotional sales through airline partners, as well as an internal web application that allows all call centers throughout the world to cross-sell gift cards to customers when they call to make reservations at the company’s thousands of hotels and resorts.  The sites, also hosted by NetLink, use the most cutting-edge analytics for tracking all gift card sales, and the effectiveness of various promotional offers in real time – all viewed by product and market.

Since going live in November 2005, Marriott customers have purchased more than 150,000 items from the gift card sites, resulting in more than $35 million revenue.  NetLink continues to host and provide innovative solutions for all of the applications that make up the Marriott online gift card offering, which generates significant revenue for the hospitality leader’s global business.

Comprehensive Internal, Web-Based Workflow Automation Tool

NetLink Resource Group developed a highly comprehensive, web-based internal workflow automation tool for gathering and managing individual client hotel offers to be showcased at Marriott International’s main website.  Marriott required a system that was fail-safe in allowing the request and approval of promotional offers that were hotel-specific – a process that was previously managed through cumbersome Excel documents submitted via e-mail.

The workflow automation tool provided for consistent tracking and approval, and included various security and management capabilities for thousands of hotel associates to submit offers for consideration.  This greatly improved Marriott’s ability to handle increasing volumes of hotel offer requests while decreasing staffing needed to manage the process through the previous manually-intensive process.

Development of Secure Registration and Payment Solution

NetLink developed a secure registration solution for a federal agency, which is an easy-to-use web application allowing agency peer reviewers to register their banking, address, and other required information in order to receive payments from the agency.  Prior to developing this system, the agency relied on an open-to-the-public system for up-to-date payment information for its peer reviewers.  This system made peer reviewers potentially vulnerable to receiving unsolicited commercial email and other solicitations once they have registered.

Thanks to NetLink, the new system is now a fully automated, highly secure web-based system that easily and efficiently allows agency peer reviewers to register to receive compensation.  Registrants can now update banking information and Social Security numbers at anytime, resulting in a reduced number of improper payments.  In addition, Christopher J. Hinkle, Senior Web Architect, NetLink, received the two prestigious awards from the federal agency for this implementation.

Comprehensive Online Association Member Community

NetLink Resource Group developed a comprehensive online community for members of the National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC).  The trade association was interested in providing value-added services for its members (i.e. elevator contractors, consultants, and suppliers) that allowed them to connect, network and share best practices.

NetLink developed the membership portal to integrate with content available on the NAEC public web site, so that members would have a single destination to view content offered to the public, in addition to being provided access to members-only functionality.  There is also a robust administrative application that allows NAEC to manage content (CMS), approve/decline requests for membership, and configure many other complex aspects of the website.

Website with a Powerful Content Management System (CMS)

An office of a major federal agency required a multi-faceted public website for informing the public on dietary supplements, and needed the ability to update content in real-time.  The agency turned to NetLink Resource Group to develop a custom content management system for meeting this objective.  It also tapped into NetLink’s expertise for its fact sheet products and related pages that implemented a “glossary” module allowing the user to define words or phrases (“terms”) in a document, which is dynamically (or manually) hyperlinked to their definitions that appear in a pop-up window.  NetLink is in the process of updating the website’s design and architecture using the latest NET technology.

Concierge Web Application for Hotel Guests

NetLink Resource Group created a custom web application for Marriott International to provide hotel guests with the ability to select amenities – for example, reserving a pack ‘n play for children or booking a golf outing – before their arrival at any client hotel in the world.  The application allows for customers to book both free and paid services prior to arrival and serves as an additional up-selling tool for the client, thereby significantly increasing revenues.   It provides for a more consistent tracking of amenities requests – based on the specific offerings of each hotel – providing better overall service by meeting customers’ particular needs.  NetLink also extended the application to include the Ritz-Carlton hotel brand, with unique features.

Since its initial deployment, the site’s capabilities have consistently grown.  For example, customer requests are now passed to Marriott’s hotel platform system through the use of web services technology, creating a fully integrated solution.  In addition, the Marriott customer portal underwent a complete re-design using Web 2.0 methodologies, as did the robust administrative portal that allows for sophisticated content management control and configuration by a diverse set of users at the corporate, regional, and hotel level.  The new version went live in August of 2010.

Complex Financial Management Application

NetLink Resource Group was asked to complete a complex financial management application for a federal agency, since the client-server-based project had stalled under the guidance of previous development teams.  The system administers critical and highly detailed royalty processes, including royalty income calculations, inventor contact information, royalty distribution percentages and amounts, as well as other royalty process actions performed by this office within the federal agency.  In addition, NetLink developed and integrated the royalty distribution payment processes and IRS Form 1099 generation, as well as added functionality to generate reports and to reconcile payment data.  NetLink is in the process of converting this application from a client-server platform to a web application.

E-Commerce Engine and E-Ticket Website

NetLink Resource Group developed an e-commerce engine and e-ticket website for Gospel e-Tickets, which is a leading online ticket distribution engine for positive, family-friendly concerts, theatrical, performances, festivals, conferences (faith-based and business) and sporting events.  NetLink developed the portal to allow customers to purchase bar-coded e-tickets that can be printed out and redeemed at specific gospel- and faith-related events.  In addition, event promoters and churches can fill out an online application for approval by Gospel e-Tickets staff, to allow tickets to be sold through the portal.  Once approved, these churches can upload information about their events through a robust administrative portal, without the need for developer interaction.

Online Benefits Enrollment and Maintenance Website

NetLink Resource Group developed an online benefits enrollment and maintenance website for iPower (now called Employee Navigator) where customers can manage all of their HR needs in one location, eliminating the typically cumbersome amount of paperwork, through iPower’s direct interaction with benefits carriers.  The application uses a custom interface that converts user-entered data into a HIPAA 834 file format for transmission via FTP to carriers.  iPower was one of the first websites to allow this type of data interfacing between the customer and the carrier.

In addition, NetLink created a new, complex system that converted iPower to an application service provider (ASP) system, allowing it to be used by benefits brokers wanting to better serve their commercial clients in the SMB space.  A fully-configurable security model allows an unlimited number of user types to be established to control functionality at a system, broker, company and employee level.

Web-Based Payment System for Conference Reviewers

NetLink Resource Group developed a web-based payment and reporting system for a federal agency needing to track independent contractor compensation when they review conferences sponsored by recipients of agency grants.  The application intuitively allows for the importing of formatted files from an external system for creating conference records.  The application also tracks and reports on special situations including failed payments, as well as handles IRS Form 1099 reporting.  The system is integrated with the agency’s secure payee registration system, a web application designed by NetLink to allow agency peer reviewers to register their banking, address, and other required information in order to receive payments from the agency.
